Books

My main project at the moment is the Eldingvald Quartet, which takes place across the ocean from Elenot. The four books of Savarik, Deepening Waters, Arahmid’s Dust, and a fourth yet untitled book are described below, and descriptions of the Silvercatcher Series follow.

Savarik: Book One [Years One and Two]

Pontus Savarik’s first book covers his first two years in the military Verja Academy in the kingdom of Eldingvald. Though Sava enters the Verja Academy to serve his kingdom, he begins to find that political corruption is inescapable even there, and through a series of naïve stunts, he manages to set about a national overthrow of dishonest leaders in the Elding parliamentary system, even while the rest of the world is brewing its own political turmoil.

Deepening Waters: Book Two [Years Six through Eight]

Book Two begins shortly before Sava’s seventeenth birthday, picking up just as he is finally beginning to understand the weight and significance of the political turmoil in the world around him. He has already had a taste of the sacrifices of politics, but only now will he begin to fully understand the sacrifices of the life he has decided to lead. Teetering on the verge between being a child with few responsibilities and being an adult who must face not only the frightening concept of war and death but also love, Sava must decide how far he is willing to dedicate his life to the Verjavald and to his kingdom.

Arahmid’s Dust: Book Three

Sava is back again, but his world is drastically different and when everything that used to be important becomes a hateful fallacy, he only wonders if he will manage to catch some remnant of his old life as it slides between his fingers. For the first time, he must confront the possibility that maybe the life of a Verja was not meant for him, and that he was never supposed to be one to save the falling world around him.

Sava’s world takes place in Eldingvald Reik, shown amongst the Northern Isles above.

“Never let anyone tell you that the role of the Silvercatcher is a simple one.”

-Sariana Wood, 22nd Silvercatcher

Silvercatcherbs_thumb

In the kingdom of Elenot, nine Young Adult Fantasy books of destiny, magic, love, and death span over a thousand years, telling the tales of Silvercatchers and the people who aided them. In each generation a Silvercatcher cared for her kingdom, risking life and love, as she faced trials that tested not only her strength and cunning, but also her ability to keep her sanity. Each book in the series views the Silvercatcher’s role through a different prospective, from the hardship of abandoning a normal life to the necessary healing power of love.

Nyla Godard

The Silvercatcher is a protector, a mother, a wife, a citizen, and a ruler…”

The role of the Silvercatcher, a title passed from mother to oldest daughter for over a thousand years, has finally reached Nyla Godard in the midst of a war with the race of magical Firar in the west. Though Nyla initially takes her role enthusiastically, ready to fight for her kingdom against evil, she begins to realize that not everything is divided into clear areas of black and white. Struggling to understand her destiny, she must decide between the king who raised her and the sister she never knew, between a man who can make her smile and a man who understands her, and between the kingdom she vowed to protect and the people whose government is not covered in corruption. In a subtle reworking of the themes of right and wrong, Nyla Godard must chose to accept the destiny of the Silvercatcher or to create her own life.

The Silvercatcher

From both sides she was trapped, unable to possibly escape. From her father’s blood came the problem, from her mother’s the solution.

Keeri, born amidst a heightening war in the kingdom of Elenot, comes to discover that she is the Silvercatcher and destined to save her kingdom. Since her mother’s death, she has watched in silent frustration as her estranged father tours the kingdom with black magic, trying through a distorted campaign to fight against the king on behalf of the fallen power of magic. Though her life has been spent trying to prove to herself that she is nothing like her father, she finds herself reluctant to accept a destiny that might confirm those differences to Elenot, and to herself. Despite the dark magic from her father in her blood, Keeri’s fate as the Silvercatcher also flows through her veins from her maternal line. Armed with the strength and destiny of the Silvercatcher, Keeri must not only combat her own guilt for her mother’s death and the war waging in her kingdom, but she must also come to terms with her own identity.

The Goddess

The Goddess is the sequel to the Silvercatcher, and currently undergoing complete reworking.

The Goldcatcher Trilogy

Emaline, The Assignment, and Destiny of Evil are the three fantasy books within the Goldcatcher Trilogy, which starts the Silvercatcher Series. These three books follow Emaline Henell, a girl determined to overcome gender divisions in Elenot to protect her kingdom. Through the trilogy, she climbs her way slowly towards respect and towards the position of the Goldcatcher. It is from her story that the rest are possible.

Sariana

Sariana has grown up knowing of her role as the Silvercatcher and is well aware of the danger and sacrifices of such a position in Elenot. But having grown up as the daughter of one of the most esteemed Silvercatchers in Elenotian history, she cannot stand the idea of having such a public role, of being watched constantly, of having her every action on display. It isn’t as though she doesn’t want to be to help people- she just cannot bear the idea of sacrificing her life to be the next Silvercatcher. This book follows Sariana’s rebellion against her seemingly inescapable destiny, her attempts at a new and hidden life, and her ultimate understanding of secrets and sacrifices.

These twelve books are the start of two Young Adult Fantasy series that span countries, cultures, and centuries with magic, adventure, and romance at the heart of each novel. These series are for serious fantasy readers interested in escaping their world for the excitement of the Silvercatcher’s.

How long did it take you to write this one?
And how on earth do you get the descriptions head on? I really like the following:

“finding her sole solace in the dirt and trees of the forests she loved”

“she had never considered herself special, just simply cursed to feel guilt as her own father threatens the kingdom with a dark magical power”

    and then of course:

“Armed with the strength and destiny of the Silvercatcher, Keeri must not only combat her own guilt for her mother’s death and the war waging in the kingdom, but she must also learn that the life of tears her mother led is not the only fate of trust and love.”

Seriously, these descriptions are absolutely amazing. I think they are perfect, capturing the wonderful essence of Elenot (and the stories that lie within it)!

    !!
    Your books sound AMAZING!
I want to read them quite badly.
They sound so like thought-out (of course, after 8 or 9 books I’d hope it would be!) =].

I really hope you get published ASAP.

  3. Talitha Says:

Wow! Your books really sound good, I would definitely read them. Your descriptions make them sound absolutely wonderful, if you ever get published, I will most assuredly get my hands on a copy.

I really like how you have them spanning over the years, so it’s kind of like the same…but not. Sorry, I don’t really know how to describe it.

Anyway, please, even if you get turned down by a publisher or something, just keep on trying. Stephenie Meyer was turned down a lot, now look where she is, her book has been made into a movie.

  4. Liz Says:

Okay. Ever since you told me “stuff” about the fourth Sava book, I cannot stop thinking about it!!! I came here just to browse and soak in some Sava-ness because my mind needed some…I dunno, Sava and Co.? And I see you called it the Eldingvald Quartet which made me smile soooooo much! Basically I wanted to tell you that I’m thinking about everything you told me (and Courtney’s really anxious, but I haven’t told her anything…) haha :] AH. You’re brilliant, and I am so very excited to see how your writing progresses with your college classes! I’ve seen how much you’ve grown, even in the short amount of time we’ve known each other, and I’m very, very excited to see where you (and ALL of your characters) go from here :]
